The Industrial Manifesto!

This is why we fight.

"In the silence of the night we could hear the panting and clanking of the machinery." (Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Sign of Four, 1890)

We want our dreams to be filled with the machines of industry. We want to dream of a return to the glory we once had. We want the engines of production running through the night at maximum velocity. We want to fill every available square inch of warehouse space with products, and as fast as they go out the door, we want 10 more to take their place. We dream of burying our rivals under the shear volume of what we make. We wish to awaken from our dreams covered from head to toe in the sweat of our hard work, and we wish to be covered in the same sweat when punch out at the end of the day.

"'A curse on machines! Every year, their increasing power devotes millions of workmen to pauperism, by depriving them of work, and therefore of wages and bread. A curse on machines!'

This is the cry which is raised by vulgar prejudice, and echoed in the journals.

But to curse machines, is to curse the spirit of humanity!" (Frederic Bastiat, That Which is Seen, and That Which is Not Seen, 1850)

If this was to be written in this day and age, it would be worded somewhat differently, and carry with it a far different tone. It is nearly universally accepted that machines are a benefit to society and enhance the potential of mankind by freeing up time that would otherwise be lost due to its length in manufacturing products. This country does not lack the machinery to produce goods, and scrap yards and abandoned factories are overflowing with the rusting carcasses of industry. What we are lacking is a will to do the work, to get our hands dirty, to spend the money to do the job. This must change. What is needed is a revolution in the way the country does business and how it treats its workforce. A revolution is not a battle fought with one individual it requires an army. We are the army, and we will fight for what is right and just within the walls of our factories and in the streets across this great country. We will fight with the tools of our trade. We will fight until those who oppose us are gone once and for all. These are the reasons why we are right to take up arms, and why we will ultimately triumph in our struggle.

We are the visionaries who look to change the future. We are those who are brave enough to venture into this new frontier. We are the revolutionaries who will bring about this change. The time to act is now. The need for change is now. The Revolution begins now.
