The Industrial Manifesto!

This is why we fight.

"But the mass-man does in fact believe that he is the State, and he will tend more and more to set its machinery working on whatsoever pretext, to crush beneath it any creative minority which disturbs it - disturbs it in any order of things: in politics, in ideas, in industry." (Jose Ortega y Gassett, Revolt of the Masses, 1929)

This is exactly what lean has done to industry - "We must be lean, we must do it, everyone else is doing it, Wall Street demands it from us, there is no other way of doing business," and on and on the C-class rants. Therein lies the curse of lean. It has, according to those who make the decisions, the only way of doing business - the one true path to salvation. The workers adjust to these conditions by buying into the one way and they work accordingly. The creative juices of the working class are being dried up with no means to quench its thirst. There is no room for deviation from the path, so why fight it? The many colored belts of the warriors of the way make a struggle against the way seem virtually impossible. But there is hope for us yet. There is no sin in making more than what is absolute minimum required. We must take back from the Cult of Lean that which values a hard day's work and values working above and beyond your fellow workers. And those who kneel before the Alter of Lean must be sacrificed upon this alter so that those who live by the Protestant Work Ethic may survive and flourish and out produce those from other countries so that we may once again be strong. And who worship the false-god of lean must be forced to work and justify their pay. And those who cannot produce must be eliminated. This is survival of the fittest in the real world and this is what we have to offer priests of the church of lean.

"When the mass suffers any ill-fortune or simply feels some strong appetite, its great temptation is that permanent, sure possibility of obtaining everything - without effort, struggle, doubt or risk - merely by touching a button and setting the mighty machine in motion. The mass says to itself, "L'Etat, c'est moi," which is a complete mistake." (Jose Ortega y Gassett, Revolt of the Masses, 1929)

Much like the corporate mentality that drives business today, the workers have take for granted all that has been struggled for over the generations. We must change this line of thinking and fight for what is in our best interest. We must work harder than ever before to do the job that needs to be done. We must toil and sweat in the fields of machines to out muscle the rest of the world. And in doing so, we can be glad at the end of the day that our effort was no in vein and that we are building a brighter future for the workers of this country. There is no green button that needs to be pushed that will give us this; it is something that only the force of our wills and the strength of our muscles can bring about. We have been empowered in our workplaces and it is time to act upon the authority we have been given. The time has come for the workers to fire up the engines of industry and to take back what those who control us have stolen and yet have no idea what we do. For far too long, those who have been pushed through the institutes of higher education have had their heads filled with the fallacy that one does not need to know what is required to do a job to control the workforce. It is time that those who do know the job and what is required to make it happen rise up and take control of what is rightfully theirs. And in this way, industry will once again have a meaningful place in society and will once again be the captain that steers the ship of business.

We are the visionaries who look to change the future. We are those who are brave enough to venture into this new frontier. We are the revolutionaries who will bring about this change. The time to act is now. The need for change is now. The Revolution begins now.
