PATAGONIA VOLUNTEER

FIRE DEPARTMENT

Hermitage, Pennsylvania

The Patagonia Volunteer Fire Department was called to 150 Crawford Drive (located in the Patagonia District) earlier this month for a possible structure fire.  Units 86-321 and 86-623 responded along with several units from the City of Hermitage Fire Department and the City of Sharon Fire Department.  When the units arrived they found an unoccupied structure under construction to be heavily involved with smoke and fire.  Units quickly worked to contain and control the fire.  No estimate on damages or a cause has been determined.  The fire was extinguished without incident or injury to any firefighters.  We would like to thank all mutual aid companies for their assistance in the extinguishment of this fire.  Shortly after the fire scene was cleared Station 86 units were called back to the area for a water main break that was washing away the roadway.  Car 86-120 and Brush 86-623 responded and took control of the scene until the broken line was repaired.

Also earlier this month unit 86-321 responded to the City of Hermitage to assist in a tractor trailer vs. pick up truck motor vehicle accident which required the extrication of one patient.  Unit 86-321 arrived on scene along with Heavy Rescue 112, Rescue 631, Utility 712, Car 110, Car 130.  86-321 handled lighting and back up rescue tool while R-112 handled the extrication.

On December 29th, Brush 86-623 was called to assist in the search and rescue of an elderly patient who had wandered away from their residence.  This was the first call in which the recently purchased Thermal Imager was used.  We are happy to report that the elderly patient was located and returned unharmed.
