JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

COOK/FOOD SERVICE FOR CAMPBELL FARM

 

Campbell Farm is a mission station, conference and retreat center of the Central Washington Presbytery.

This  position is for  part-time and on-call work during the school year, and/or full-time in summer.

 

Four main areas of responsibility:

1.  PREPARATION:

Plan and prepare menus under consultation with the director; be aware of cost

            effectiveness; obtain and use food from the farm garden and donations.

            Ability to prepare a variety of cultural foods or a willingness to learn.

            Prepare shopping lists, present to food purchaser.

Help purchase food when needed, organize and put away food when it arrives.

            While preparing the food maintain correct sanitary kitchen conditions as per state regulations.

When volunteers or helpers are available supervise them in tasks that will help you with your

preparation and presentation.

 

2.  PRESENTATION OF FOOD:

Food is to be served in a healthy and appetizing way. 

The meal needs to be ready to be served at the time indicated in the camp schedule. (The time

             may vary with various groups and activities. Check with director or interns.)

 

3.  CLEAN-UP:

Supervise and instruct helpers in the kitchen with clean-up.

 Must learn how to run the dishwasher.

When helpers are not available, the food service person is responsible to wash the dishes and clean the kitchen. That includes mopping, stores utensils, etc.

Make sure food is stored properly in the refrigerator, pantry, etc. and that these areas are kept clean and safe.

Scraps are to be saved for the farm animals or the compost and taken to specific areas.

Share recommendations, needs or concerns regarding equipment, food service, helpers, etc. with director.

 

4.   REQUREMENTS:

Friendly; able to work with all types of people.

Ability to receive directions and critique on work output.

Ability to give direction and supervision to helpers.

Must have an updated food handlers card and display in kitchen.

Willingness and flexibility to help with other duties assigned by director, when needed.

Attend staff meetings.  Ability to communicate needs and concerns.

Be responsible; inform the staff in a timely manner if you are unable to fulfill your commitment

because of unforeseen circumstances.

Demonstrated ability and responsibility by providing  two to three references.

Large group experience helpful.
