this service available from other Internet Service Providers
or the telephone company?
No. Winbeam's Broadband service uses frequencies licensed
exclusively to Winbeam by the Federal Communications
Commission. These exclusive agreements enable us to
provide our customers with interference-free reception,
Point to Point T1 connectivity with QOS (Quality of
Service). Winbeam is a full service ISP, with E-Mail,
Web site hosting, and other services.

How
does Winbeam work?
Winbeam uses a microwave transmission technology known
as MMDS (Multichannel Multipoint Distribution System).
We equip your computer with a digital transceiver, and
a high-speed modem connected to an Ethernet Network
Interface Card when we install your service. This equipment
enables our transmitter located atop Brush Mountain
to communicate with your computer. Our expert technicians
can provide all necessary equipment at the time of your
installation.
I
don't need a phone line?
Your
connection to Winbeam is "always on" - no
waiting, never a busy signal. And because Winbeam is
based on Broadband technology, no telephone lines are
ever needed. Your requests for Web pages and other data
are instantly transmitted through the airwaves to our
antenna on Brush Mountain. From there, the signal is
routed through Winbeam's servers to the Internet's backbone.
The Web page or file you requested is then beamed to
your computer at lightning fast speeds.
How
much does Winbeam cost?
Winbeam Broadband Intro gives you unlimited
High-Speed Internet. Unlike other wireless ISP's - Winbeam
utilizes MMDS (multipoint multichannel distribution
system,) licensed to provide a quaranteed QOS (quality
of service.) You always receive the bandwidth level
you pay for. Weather is not an issue with MMDS because
of our radios high power output. You also pay for bandwidth
- not users, split the bandwidth package you choose
for as many users as you need.
How
do I get Winbeam service?
Call us locally at 866-780-BEAM
(2326). Businesses located within
sight of Brush Mountain, are able to get
Winbeam service in most cases. Just to be
sure, before we schedule an installation
appointment we will conduct an on-sight,
free, no obligation signal test to assure
that you have a proper line of sight and
can access Winbeam service. Our technician
will need access to the roof of your business
location in order to complete this test.
How
long do I wait for Winbeam to be installed?
Because we are a local company, Winbeam installations
are scheduled within days, not weeks or months. Installation
times will vary based on the type of PC and peripherals
you have. Typical installations range from ninety minutes
to three hours, and no installation is complete until
you are satisfied with the service and have given your
approval.
Will
heavy rain or snow disrupt the Winbeam signal?
No,
Winbeam operates in the 2.5 GHz band (it's very close
to the new cellular mobile PCS band). This frequency
is not adversely affected by heavy rain or snow.
